چکیده

آسیای مرکزی به دلیل برخورداری از منابع زیرزمینی و طبیعی همواره مورد توجه قدرت‌های منطقه‌ای و فرامنطقه‌ای بوده است. با دقت در راهبردهای سیاست خارجی چین و ژاپن میان سال‌های 2012 تا 2016 در منطقه آسیای مرکزی مشخص می‌شود از یک طرف، چین دارای منافع اقتصادی، امنیتی، انرژی و ژئوپلیتیک در منطقه است و از طرف دیگر، ژاپن منافع اقتصادی، انرژی و اهداف بلندمدت بین‌المللی و منطقه‌ای را دنبال می‌کند. سوال اصلی در این مقاله این است که چین و ژاپن چه منافع و راهبرد‌هایی در منطقه دارند و در سیاست‌های بلندمدت خود در چه عرصه‌هایی با یکدیگر افتراق کارکردی دارند؟ فرضیه تحقیق این است که راهبرد چین استفاده از قدرت رو به رشد اقتصادی و قدرت سیاسی خود در منطقه آسیای مرکزی به‌ویژه از طریق سازمان همکاری‌های شانگهای است در حالی که ژاپن از طریق کمک‌های حمایت‌گرانه در قالب همیاری توسعه رسمی و چندجانبه‌گرایی سیاسی همچنین استفاده از ظرفیت‌های خود در سازمان‌های منطقه آسیا_ پاسیفیک مانند همکاری اقتصادی  آسیا_ پاسیفیکیا نهاد‌های سازمان ملل مانندبرنامه توسعه ملل متحدبهره می‌برد. روش تحقیق در این مقاله توصیفی- تحلیلی است و نگارش آن با استفاده از منابع کتابخانه­ای و فضای مجازی می‌باشد.
